Position Summary

The Municipality of North Middlesex is looking for Ice Rink Assistants for the 2022-23 season to assist the facilities operator in the daily maintenance and repairs of the recreation facilities

Principal Duties

1. Sweeps and cleans dressing rooms and washrooms several times per shift.

2. Continually sweep and pick up garbage in the lobby and stand during your shift and the Goal Post Hall when open.

3. Assist the facilities operator when flooding the ice:

  • First by filling up the Olympia with water.
  • Moving the nets out of the way during the flood.
  • Check players and penalty boxes and make sure they are clean during ever flood tape, broken sticks, cups, bottles, pylons etc.)
  • Place the nets back, alone with pins.

4. Check the facilities garbage cans regularly and empty them when needed. Don’t forget to check the Goal Post Hall when open.

5. Before the end of your evening shift the following must be completed:

  • Players & penalty boxes must be cleaned
  • Stands must be swept top and bottom
  • All dressing rooms and washrooms swept
  • Sweep the lobby and don’t forget the entrance area that leads onto the ice on both sides. \
  • Help the operator with the mopping of the lobby and dressing rooms when needed.

6. Morning shifts may be required to go to the Community Centre and wash down and stack all the tables & chairs (stacks of 10) and then put them away. They may also be required to wash the main floor with the auto floor scrubber.

Reports To: Facility Operator on Duty & Recreation/Facilities Manager

Hours of Work:  Part-time hours (includes evenings and weekends)
